News: Soldner-X 2 – The Prototype Isn’t Quite Final Yet

We do like Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype here at VGUK, it has to be said, and I’m sure those who are regulars to our haven of gaming will know that we gave it a rather high 9 out of 10 when we reviewed it just a short while ago. Well, not resting on their laurels, SideQuest Studios are now working on an expansion pack to this Playstation Network shmup classic.

The title is, rather ominously, The Last Chapter and will give us 3 more levels, taking the full amount to 10, as well as more challenges and a new difficulty level, probably for the more sadistic among us, I’d imagine.

CEO of the company, Marcus Pukropski, has been very impressed with the feedback the sequel received and is looking forward to giving fans more of what they love:

“Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype has been an amazing product that was very well received by gamers and critics alike, which is why we are absolutely committed to showing our continued support for it. All additional content has been exclusively created for this expansion pack; we are continuing right where we left off.”

Expect more information on this expansion and hopefully some more Soldner stuff as soon as we get it.

Review: Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse Episode 3: They Stole Max’s Brain! (PS3)

Review: Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse Episode 3: They Stole Max’s Brain! (PS3)

And so, dear reader, we move on to the third part of our adventure with the Freelance Police in their quest to save the world. When we left this series at the end of episode 2 we had managed to locate and apprehend the Devil’s Toybox from the old sorcerer Paperwaite and were handing it back to the Molemen for safe keeping.

All that has gone to pot now, as Sam has returned from a well earned toilet break to find his old bunny pals head sliced open and his brain stolen. Who could have done it? Can he get it back? Is this part of the series any better than the last one? There is really only one way to find this one out.

Hands-On: PlayStation Move (PS3)

Hands-On: PlayStation Move (PS3)

So all of those rich, talented and just downright geeky enough have come back from E3, smug in the fact that they will have had a shot of more or less everything that us mere mortals are itching to get our hands on over the next year or so. Well, worry not young reader (well, young at heart at least) as yours truly has managed to get himself a lengthy shot on the PlayStation answer to the Wii with their motion controller system, Move. Does this really have enough potential to beat the original wand shaking console, or will it turn out to be another big gimmick aimed at grabbing money from us?

Review: Naughty Bear (PS3)

Review: Naughty Bear (PS3)

Naughty Bear is a game that needs to be approached with a certain kind of perspective and preparation. Expectations for revolutionary gameplay, a brilliant story line, scripted scenes on par with prime time drama, or innovative game mechanics should be cast aside. Those things are not going to be found here.

Don’t know why, but where directors and producers are incredibly important to cinema buffs, for some reason most of us in the gaming community fail to notice the developer/publisher of the games we buy. In this case our developer (the people who designed the game) Artificial Mind and Movement is a very well established developer…in making a lot of those movie/cartoon to video game ports that all of us hate so very much. Prior to this their only silver lining IMHO was Wet, which was pretty awesome. Anyway, their publisher (the people who market, sell, and occasionally help pay for the game), in this case 505 Games, are responsible for the Discovery Kids games hitting shelves. Yeah, you know, those DS games with the animals on the cover, Puppy Playtime, and Kitten Corner…need I go on?

Review: Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse Episode 2: The Tomb of Sammun-Mak (PS3)

Review: Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse Episode 2: The Tomb of Sammun-Mak (PS3)

Episode 2 of the Devil’s Playhouse series, with the detective hound and his psychic/psycho rabbit friend, has arrived on the PS3 to give people more of the same. For those that have managed to get past The Penal Zone that is. We should all be thankful that this can be played as a stand-alone title rather than it being a case of finishing the first to get into number 2 (I’m one of them, as I did get stuck about halfway through) but can it keep up the cracking jokes and funny dialogue from part one?
