As enjoyable as games are, they’re rarely funny. The world as told by games is a dark and grim place full of violence, explosions and great suffering. It’s an oddly fun world despite that but laughs are not widespread. That is until you play a Twisted Pixel game. Most famous for XBLA titles ‘Splosion Man and Comic Jumper, Twisted Pixel has followed this up with their first retail release: The Gunstringer, a title that provides similar levels of humour but unfortunately a similar length to any XBLA offering. Yup, The Gunstringer is short but sweet.

Review: Gears Of War 3 (Xbox 360)
In September I wrote about heading down to England in my attempt to play Gears of War 3, and have a fair bit of drinking at the same time. In a valiant fight against the powers of intoxication, I’m afraid the alcohol was too strong, which meant that everything apart from some brief multiplayer chainsaw action was as good as it got.
Now that there has been a fair bit of time between then and now, I can say things are much more different. The game is finished and the multiplayer has now had the attention it deserves, allowing me to give you the definitive gamer review of the final part of Delta Squad’s EPIC (pun intended, by the way) adventure. As always, there will be no spoilers and all you will find out is how Gears IS, so without further ado….
Review: The Cursed Crusade (Xbox 360)
Ever since Assassin’s Creed rekindled an interest in the sometimes seedily perceived world of the Templar knights, conspiracies and all manner of medieval tomfoolery, it seems that a lot of developers have tried to milk the Templar cash cow, with their own take on history. The Cursed Crusade is one such title, coming from the little developer Kylotonn Studios whose best known work is the remake of the classic Speedball 2 back in 2007. Templars, swords and a touch of sorcery, how could it go wrong?
Review: Just Dance 3 (Xbox 360)
Wave your arms in the air like you just don’t care! A dance cliché for sure, but a fun one at that. In one sentence this sums up Just Dance 3 perfectly. It’s loud, it’s silly, it’s far from skilful but it is fun.
Wii owners have had the chance to experience the Just Dance series for a while now and it’s done phenomenally well, topping the charts for weeks on end. Now available for the Xbox 360, and most crucially Kinect, how does it perform with the added technological advantages? Well, admittedly, it’s much the same as before. Dance Central 2 continues to reign as king of the most accurate and skilful of dance games but the pick up and play mentality of Just Dance 3 makes it a worthy equal, just in an entirely different kind of way.
Review: Dead Island (Xbox 360)
We all remember that girl falling upwards through a window, the fire axe removing itself from the concierge’s neck, and we all certainly remember the haunting piano accompaniment. Dead Island had been revealed to the world, and the hype machine screamed into life as the internet began to buzz about another zombie game.
It turns out that no game can live up to that level of hype, and there was never a doubt that an emotional rollercoaster that was the infamous trailer was nothing more than a publicity piece, as the game couldn’t be more removed from the deep experience some may have expected.
