PS3 Console Banned From UK Prison!!

I read on a few news sites yestrerday that Rye Hill Prison in Warwickshire had banned its prisoners from using their PS3′s as the wifi capabilities of the console could be used to contact outside associates. What the news sites didn’t say is how can prisoner’s afford a PS3?? I don’t even have a PS3!!

There was no mention though of what other prisons grace their prisoners with in the way of next-gen gaming. It’s nice to see that if you commit a crime and get a custodial sentence you still get the luxuries of the latest games consoles!!

Microsoft Kills ‘Coffin’ Policy – Pack Your RRoD 360 Yourself!!

Microsoft – the manufacturer of the RRoD-prone Xbox 360 – has confirmed to Joystiq that it’s discontinued its policy of providing a prepaid box with shipping label, more commonly referred to as the “coffin,” for all Xbox 360 repairs. As of May 26 the policy was discontinued “in an effort to expedite the repair process.” Customers will have the option of receiving an e-label to slap on the box they ship their bricked consoles in, but the days of the “coffin” are now over. A Microsoft spokesperson tell us, “Customers can now ship their consoles themselves using an e-label provided by Microsoft and do not need to wait for an empty box to be shipped to them.”

Patrick Soderlund, senior VP of EA Games Europe, claims that the company’s developers have “maxed out” the Xbox 360.

“Sony has a lot of good games this year. If you go to their [E3] booth, there’s a very consistent, high quality product line-up and that will help them. I do think that we’ll see developers inside the organisation getting to understand the PS3 better and I think that we’re getting more power out of PS3 right now… I think that we’ve maxed out the 360 but we haven’t maxed out the PS3.”

How Microsoft Stole The Show At E3!!

CNET conducted a poll earlier this week asking readers which company–Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony–had the most impressive announcements at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.

More than 10,000 people responded. More than 51.9 percent of the respondents said Microsoft bested its competitors. Thirty-four percent of those who answered the poll said Sony had the best announcements. Nintendo finished last, with just 5.6 percent of respondents saying it had the best E3. Ironically, the fourth option–”None of them–they were all yawners”–beat out Nintendo, with 8.4 percent of the vote.
