This news was in my LIVE inbox earlier. It looks like Xbox LIVE will be offline from 12:01am Pacific Time (thats around 8am UK) on the 29th September. This maintenance is getting the network ready for the new Xbox experience and can take up to 24 hours so dust off your Gameboy!!

Gamesindustry.biz has news that the sale of 360 consoles is up 32% since the price cut last friday. The story also reports that sales of PS3 hardware is down 8%!!

It looks like Microsoft was forced to announce this weeks 360 price cuts earlier than expected due to the Woolworths leak late last week. An industry insider revealed to Gamer.TM that Microsoft where due to announce the price cuts, along with a new Bungie game, at a European event next week.

The press release from Microsoft dropped in my inbox this morning announcing that on Friday 19th September the price of the Xbox 360 will officially drop!! The new price in the UK for the Arcade pack will be £129.99, the 60Gb Pro/Premium will be £169.99 and the Elite will be £229.99.
“With more games, more entertainment with Xbox LIVE and now even more value, we are looking forward to welcoming more customers into the leading Next Generation console, Xbox 360.” – Neil Thompson, Senior Regional Director, Microsoft UK.
The new prices match those shown in the new Woolworths catalogue pictures posted at the weekend. Hopefully online retailers will drop the prices a bit more or bundle games with the consoles.
