Pinball Wizard. What a cracking song that was. Pity the game is a bit rubbish then. Pinball is fundamentally a very simple game. Propel a ball up a table and hit some targets, we all know the drill. So I guess Pinball Wizard has at least fulfilled the incredibly simplistic part of the idea. Pity about the fun element though which is distinctly lacking.
Pinball Wizard only offers the one table which is ok for about 30 seconds but the crux of the problem is that the sole table is far too basic to be particularly enjoyable. There’s just nothing really to it, just a few basic bumpers to bounce off and that’s it. Throw in the fact that sometimes the ball randomly sticks in places and there’s seemingly no sign of a tilt function, it all becomes quite unenjoyable and fast. I found it especially annoying that there was seemingly no way of using both flippers at once, surely an obvious feature to include.
To be fair to Pinball Wizard there is a design mode but it again is rather basic and ultimately pointless. Still at least the sound effects are wholly appropriate for the game and certainly give the right feeling of pinball.
If only there had been more tables in this game. Sure it’s only 59p which is often a bargain on the App store but with a mere one table that’s very simple to boot, this feels more like a demo of a full product, something that should be free. There is just so little substance to this game that there’s nothing that can be recommended here, especially not over the likes of Wild West Pinball which is priced the same but infinitely more fun. Seriously just don’t bother here; it’s far too incomplete a title as it stands.
