Review: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10

Review: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10

When it comes to console golf games I haven’t played one for a while. The last game was Everybody’s Golf on the Playstation and the last time I picked up a controller to play one of EA’s PGA Tour games was years ago on the PC and that might of been before Tiger Woods added his name to it!!

What we have here is the latest incarnation of the series, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. This time round many new additions have been made to the game with the US Open here to challenge you and real time weather having an effect on gameplay.

Gamewise, a lot of the Pro’s are here, but in name only. They appear on the leaderboards when playing but you never see their likeness. Yep, even though this is a PGA Tour game it’s missing the likeness of the players on the actual tour!! Sure, it has Tiger but some may want to see their favourite golfer in pixel form.

The game is heavily geared towards Xbox LIVE, with real time weather and the chance to play tournaments as they happen on the actual PGA tour. This allows you to see how you would get on compared to the Pros as it recreates things such as the the actual temperature and weather conditions. This is a nice touch although to be honest I don’t feel it affects the dynamics of your putts and swings as much as I thought it would.

Just like real golf this game can get frustrating at time. Sometimes the CPU opponents play too well reaching the green in 2 on a par 5!! I’m the one who seems to always end up +1 on each hole…

Life is added with the Tournament Challenge mode. Make the swing, putt or chip and make history again as you have a chance to replay scenarios from past seasons in the PGA Tour. Golf fans are the ones who will relish this mode more than the casual gamer.

Overall this is a good game although not as rounded as I would have liked. A few people I know have mentioned that it is not that big of an update over last years release and some have even said this is a step backwards in the series. If you are new to the series, or haven’t picked it up for a few years you will enjoy this.
