Earlier this month Tetris celebrated its 25th birthday. I wasnt going to write anything about it but reading an article about it, as well as the wiki entry, got me thinking about playing Tetris for the first time.
I was introduced to Tetris via the Gameboy. Nintendo, thankfully, bundled the game with each and every console sold. This put this great puzzler into everyones hands. It was oh so simple yet fiendishly addictive!!
Tetris has given birth to many clones and knock-offs. and its effect has lead to many puzzle games being developed to try and capture its crown.
To me, the best version of Tetris was the original Gameboy one. The gameplay was just right. The music and sound effects are now etched into my brain!! None of the sequels that followed came close. If you played it you’ll know what I mean. Tetris DS is near enough the best version currently available and is never out of my DS!!
Who would have thought a puzzle game invented in Russia, by computer engineer Alexey Pajitnov would conquer the world and become one of the greatest puzzle games ever!!
